ÉMILE AUGUSTE OUCHARD "son" (1900 MIRECOURT – 1969 GAN)
Son of Émile François Ouchard, he learned the trade from him in the Cuniot Hury workshop. In 1923, he began working with his father, who had founded his own workshop. He took over the family business in 1937, moved to Paris in 1940, then left for the United States in 1946, where he worked in several cities, including New York and Chicago, and for various companies. In 1951, he traveled to Brazil to select his own pernambuco wood. In 1960, he returned to the south of France, where he worked alone. His production declined towards the end of his life due to health problems, but his bows remain highly sought after for their playability and exceptional balance, both by musicians and collectors alike.
