EUGÈNE NICOLAS SARTORY (September 22, 1871, MIRECOURT – March 5, 1946, PARIS) Initially trained by his father, Joseph Eustache Sartory, whose work remains little known, Eugène Sartory worked briefly in Paris for Charles Peccatte and then for Vigneron Père before opening his own workshop at the age of just 18. He became the bow maker for the greatest soloists and royalty of his time. Known for his bows made from luxurious materials such as tortoiseshell, ivory, mother-of-pearl, and gold, Sartory maintained consistent quality and an exceptional standard, ensuring his bows enjoyed universal success.
